Explorer on start up

Recently when XP starts up it shows a windows explorer window with
windows\system32 contents. Is there a reason that it does this and how can I
stop it doing it. There's nothing in msconfig start up that shows it. XP is
up to date with all updates.
 
This problem went away on it's own but has now returned. Have checked the
entries in regedit for the MS KB article but there's no problems as
described although I'm no expert on the other entries. Any other
suggestions?
