Explorer needs to close

Some web pages cause a pop up box saying that Explorer has
encountered an error and needs to close; I am given an
option to send a report to Microsoft. The problem module
is msvcrt.dll. I cannot delete and reinstall this file
because Windows says it is using it. I have run all the
usual spybot etc scanners and the system is clean.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, this is driving me
(a) mad and (b) to Mozilla, neither of which is the first
option (although (b) might be unavoidable).

Thanks in advance - I know this has been raised before but
there just doesn't seem to be a solution yet!

Sorry - the info given in the error is this:

AppName: iexplore.exe
AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106
ModName: msvcrt.dll
ModVer: 6.1.8293.0
Offest: 000154a7

Hi J :-)

Try the following and see if it works. Also, if you need to replace the old
file, try to do it in Safe Mode:

Iexplore caused an invalid page fault in msvcrt.dll

If these steps do not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

I am experiencing the exact same problem as defined in this thread. As you
can imagine, I was excited that there was a link posted to a possible
solution to this problem. The link is:

http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers_5.htm#msvcrt

Unfortunately, when I click the link I receive a "Page Not Found" Error
message.

Has this resource moved and if so, can someone point me to the new location?

Thanks,

It works fine here.

Thanks Peter.

I apologize for being a little lazy. I did scroll down and find another
very good description on how to resolve this problem. It seems to have
worked:-)

Again, thank you for the reply.
