I have searched the MS KB, the newsgroups and the internet in general and
cannot find an answer to my problem.
I have a 2000 domain and recently added 2003 Server Enterprise Edition as
a standalone server running a single application and database. Whenever I try
to change the NTFS permissions for a directory, explorer.exe hangs. I do not
get a ‘program not responding’ in the task manager, nor is Explorer.exe
maxing out the CPU. The hourglass just hangs there forever after I apply my
changes. The application will also hang for the clients on the floor. I must
use the close button at the top of the window, at which point I get the error
message that Explorer.exe is not responding.
I have tried doing this when SQL is in a stopped state (although SQL is
running from a different partition).
This is a dynamic, RAID5, NTFS partition, although quite large at 840G.
Any thoughts?
Thanks-
