Explorer Freezes When Browsing

When browsing, Explorer is freezing up, by either the pointer turning into
the hand and freezing in that position OR the hour glass symbol appearing.
The only option I have is CTRL, ALT, Delete, to close the program, as it is
not responding.

This is very annoying. I've Norton 2004, the genuine Adware SE and Spybot.
All are clear.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Sometimes Ad-aware and Spybot S & D aren't enough.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Malware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of the programs
below, download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

If nothing there helps, please post back to this thread.

Windows XP and IE6

Will try to work through all the suggestions from the other replies. Why is
there so much to do? I thought I had it covered with Norton, Adware and
Spybot.

If it happens again, i will post website page.

:-) I can understand your frustration, but, anti-virus programs, such as
Norton, only have definitions to detect and remove viruses. SpyBot is used
to detect and remove spyware, and AdAware and AdAware SE are to detect and
remove adware. That leaves a whole wide variance of malware and hijackers
to be dealt with, thus, there is a need for other programs. Additionally,
even with SpyBot and AdAware, there are some variants they can detected or
remove from Safe Mode. Again, a different process is required to properly
clean the machine.

It works out that it is easy to get bugs, but not as easy to get rid of
them. :/

Thank you for your patience. :-)
