Hi

Im running ie 6 with Win 2000.

I had a spyware attack siome time back which I got rid of
with cwshredder, but now expolorer won't download files.
(I have installed all service packs)

Can anyone tell me how to repair explorer so that the part
of it that downloads files will be fixed. I have already
upgraded to IE 6 from 5 but it didn't fix the problem.

Any thoughts?
Best,
Mark

Exactly what happens when you try and download?
What file type(s) do you have the problem with?

Hi

This is what is says when I click on a file or a pdf etc

Internet expolorer cannot download [filename] from
[address]

Internet explorer was not able to open this site, the
requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found
please try later.

Mark,

I'm working on this problem also. My daughter's machine 5 hours from me
is experiencing the same problem. (not able to download any files from
Internet Explorer) This all of a sudden happened with no apparent cause that
she can pinpoint. Today we created a "new user" and re-booted to that logon.
All the problems were fixed on the new logon. Of course they continued on
the old. She was also complaining of what appeared to be a very slow
response from Internet Explorer. This seemed to also have been taken care of
with the new user logon. She is using Windows 2000 and Internet Explorer 6.
Oh by the way, we do run anti-virus and all is up to date so there shouldn't
be any problem with a virus. Also we use Spybot and Adaware. Nothing of
interest was found by any of these.

Hey me too. the problem started out of the blue, we are reasonably protected
from Virus, and I eventually reloaded the XP Pro OS. Amazingly this didn't
solve the problem. Neither did SP2. Interestingly regular Gifs and such
needed to complete web pages download normally, but any attempt to download a
file fails. Treu for .pdf, .jpg, .gif ... anything. I have spent beu-coup
time on this and just can't get it to go away. I have another PC behind the
firewall and it has no problem.
