When I right click on the start button of a brand new
computer that I have set up and imaged to 20 others I get
the message that "explorer.exe has caused errors. A log is
being created."

The Microsoft knowledge base suggests that I backtrack
versions of IE due to possible conflicts. I uninstalled
one SP but now I don't have an option to uninstall IE at
all, or remove any other service packs.

Any ideas?

That isn't Internet Explorer, it's explorer.exe, the program that provides
Windows Explorer and the Windows shell. See a newsgroup for your operating
system.
