Can anyone help with this? I downloaded the service pack 2 update and after
rebooting my computer, I get an alert saying explorer.exe can't run and none
of my programs or files will run. I'm on a friend's computer and name because
I can't do anything on my computer.

I'm taking a guess here that your .exe file associations have been altered.

Insert your Windows XP cd were you installed from,
set bios boot first to cd and reboot machine,
start windows setup - let it load until you can press "enter" to install
new..BUT
don´t press enter, PRESS R to repair your installation.
After inserting Windisks your original explorer.exe will be fit again.
Reboot machine again..
