I noted within task manager, the program explorer.exe was
using 99% of CPU and some win2000 utilities would not open.

Any suggestions?

No virus or hooks found.

Thanks

Oh, you have a virus, all right (probably). The new Mydoom.B virus
uses an executable named "explorer.exe". See:

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected]

If you cannot follow this URL, then you definitely have the virus,
because it configures your machine to prohibit access to
Symantec/McAfee/etc. And yes, it will also prevent you from
downloading new virus definitions. Use a different machine and follow
the removal instructions. (And never open attachments.)

Good luck!

I was able to load from Symantec and Mcafee without a
problem. both stingers for the new virus turned up empty.
I looked in the REG and found no evidence of this virus at
all. Seems the op sys may have gone on vacation?
