i keep getting error in event viewer... event id 1002
"The shell stopped unexpectedly and Explorer.exe was
restarted."

it mostly happens when i try and open my computer or a
folder on any drive (IDE controller or motherboard
controller)... my HDD light lights up for about 15
seconds and my start-menu and icons disappear and then re-
appear... like when you login... all the folders i had
open are closed but programs like winamp are still there
and appear on the taskbar after it restarts, it also
happens if i leave it idle for about 15-30 minutes (then
i have to open taskmanager and run "explorer.exe" (my
screensaver is set to none and power management is off)

i reinstalled windows and it still happens but gets
worser and worser the longer i leave it, that means i
have to re-install windows every 2 or 3 months, it has
done it 3 times today... within 2 minutes of each other
and all i was trying to do was copy a couple of pictures
files over my network (about 10mb)...
i have windows SP1 installed.

i have a IDE controller card and 2 drives on it (Primary
Master, Windows boots from this, and a Secondary Master)
i also have an IDE drive on my Motherboard Primary IDE
and a Cd burner (Master) and DVD-combo (Slave) on
secondary ports... i am using a "Skymaster ATA/133 IDE
Card" and i am using updated drivers for both Motherboard
IDE and controller IDE.

i also sometimes get "explorer.exe - Application Error :
The instruction at "0x77f580db" referenced memory
at "0x00000067". The memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program"

and when i click ok "explorer.exe" restarts, sometimes it
open 4 popup boxes, sometimes only 1.

i only get this message when my computer is sitting idle
for 15 minutes or so...

I get these too, quite randomly. If I can't find a solution I'm going to reformat :(

Mine just closes a random application tho.
