Hi,
Let me thank you right from the start, for even thinking about helping me. I
have a Dell 8100, XP Home, SP2, IE6. I use to have IE7, but MSN though that
might have been a problem with Parent Control. With the help of Microsoft, we
bought IE6 back. Worked pretty good. Not as many "can't find the servers" or
"freezing".

Twice durning the day, I logged on the computer. Window XP started right up.
But last night I got a error code. "Explorer.Exe Ordinal not found: The
ordinal 110 could not be located in the dynamic link library SHDOCVW.dll". So
I clicked "ok" and it disappeared. It started load the background screen, and
that's all as far it went. No tool bar, no nothing. I was going to use "auto
care" to fix IE6. So then I shut the computer down. Tried to get into Safe
Mode. I saw it loading, clicked on "administrator" and again nothing.
Wouldn't go into Safe Mode.

Can anyone help me??? And is IE part of Windows XP?? Again "thank you so
much for help."

First thing to try:

Go to Start...Run...type in "regsvr32 shdocvw.dll?" (no quotes), click Okay.
Reboot. See if that helps.

If not, the continue to do the same with these .dll files:

urlmon.dll
actxprxy.dll
scrrun.dll
msxml.dll
browseui.dll

If no joy, going from IE 6 to 7 and back again, may have left you with a
file version mis-match.

Try one of these programs to try and repair IE w/o having to reinstall:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm
Or http://iefaq.info/index.php?action=artikel&cat=24&id=31&artlang=en

Try this troubleshooter:
Internet Explorer stops responding, stops working, or restarts

If still no joy:

XP

Thank you so much for writting back Jon Kennedy and also for the suggestion.
But, I have tried most of them already. As for "Go to Start...Run Type in" I
can't. I don't have a Start, Run or can type. Just the background screen. No
tool bar or what's under Start. Can't get to control panel, or anything else.
Same in "Safe mode".

As for the two program you suggested. Same problem. Can't type nothing.
Troubleshooter, they also want you to type something. Also add support
microsoft. All want you to type something in "Run". I don't have it. Any
other suggestion?? Thanks again for your time and help.
