Hi,

well, they say when the Fan hits.....you know what
happens...

I have two problems:

1. when teh computer starts everytime I need to open my
computer or any other folder, I get an error saying
EXPLORER.EXE GENERATED AN ERROR AND WILL BE SHUT DOWN. AN
ERROR LOG WILL BE CREATED. Can you please help on how to
fix it? I have IE 5.5 and SP$ installed.

2. the computer assigns itself an ip address automatically
and it cannot be released, so that seems like DHCP is not
working, any idea how to fix this problem please?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Sam

Don, thank you for taking the time to reply to me. I will
do this tonight, just to clarify, doing a CHKDSK /R/F
would not erase any apps or data from the computer right?

what is the ERD? where to get it from and how to use it?

also, if I install WIN 2000 over the current install,
would that effect my current installed apps?

thanks again.

Your error problem is with IE 5.5. Got to
microsoft.com/downloads and download and install IE6.0
w/sp1. Problem solved.
