Hi all,
After running Vista Ultimate for a little more than a month now, I am fairly
happy with it, but one thing keeps annoyign me: the pretty-much constant disk
thrashing that is spoiling my otherwise fairly low-noise system. Also, I have
to wonder how it affects the life of my disks to be constantly working.
I have 2GB of ram, and the thrashing occurs whether the machine is otherwise
idle or not.
I have noticed that often the image responsible is explorer.exe and this
process seems to have a strange interest in my Windows Mail Imported Folders
items. I have only once used Windows Mail (to import just short of 1GB mail
from Outlook Express), and that was several weeks ago. Why oh why does
explorer.exe continue this strange interest in the mail?
According to perfmon, the files being read are all in the form
C:\Users\Thomas\appdata\local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders\Imported
Folder\<folder>\25236D63-00001534.emleCustomProperty.
What's the deal with :OECustomProperty? I gather this is an ADS, but why
does it randomly wish to read this?
I have all but disabled the indexing options, and only have the startmenu
checked for indexing, so this shouldn't be the culprit.
Thanks in advance for any help.
