Every time that I boot my computer, it runs normally until
it loads and background and other gui objects that are
typically displayed on the screen. At this point, a error
box appears announcing that "explorer.exe has generated
errors and will be closed". Normally when explorer
crashes, it is not on boot and you can simply restart the
task in the task manager. However, in this case, it
always crashes on boot and every other manner in which it
is started.....however, the rest of the computer functions
normally. For example, I can use any program I have
installed I just have to run it through the task manager
as there are no icons/startbar without explorer.exe
running. Any ideas on how to fix the file?? I have tried
the recovery option in the windows 2000 cd; however, it
only seems to reinstall the dlls as opposed to the actual
executables.
