Rick,
I kept getting a similar msg. "Explorer.exe Has Generated Errors and Will Be
Closed by Windows". Then I got your msg. "instruction at "address"
referenced memory "
Running win2k (sp4) Installing service pack 4 is supposed to cure this
problem for some. I ran spybot, Ad-aware to rule out spyware. I could boot
to the admin acct. but any other user acct. would start explorer.exe to
cycle almost w/o end. Opening the task mgr seemed to calm the system down
and I could work on a solution. I saw somewhere where a missing registry
entry that couldn't be referenced could be the cause of some of these
errors. But before I restored the backed up reg entries via Spybot I also
remembered reading somewhere that an added on shell command may be
interfering with explore.exe. I rooted around and got rid of most of the
options that some progs give you to install a right click menu command. But
what has seemed to have done the trick for me; at least for the past 4.5
hrs., is to get rid of the particular rt. click menu option that Winamp
v2.91 offers. Under Winamp preferences > file types I cleared the box
"Directory Context menus. I also referred to MS articles 319124, 255758,
256194, and 326572.
