Hi to all an thanks for any replays regarding this problem.

The questions are:

Is this a ligit Windows error message or a Virus,Troyan....

and should I send it or not.

( I'm sceptical because it has no close button or an close X in the
program bar.)

The error message looks like this:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Windows Explorer

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs
to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you were in the middle of something, the information you were
working on
might be lost.

Please tell Microsoft about this problem.
We have created an error report that you can send to help us improve
Windows Explorer. We will threat this report as confidential and
anonymous.

(3 Buttons): Debug Send Error Report Don't Send

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This above message does pop up shortly after the Desk top apears
(20-30 sec).
It pops up if Explorer is running or not.

If I did not click on a button ( push the error message out of the way
), then on the next bootup the Desktop is white with a blue warning
sign and similar wording as above. Other wise every thing seems to
work normal.

If I click "Don't Send" then the System freezes and the Icons
disapear.

If I click "Debug" then my Delphi debugger pops up. Closing it, makes
the Desktop to freeze, Taskbar disapear and the Windows-key not
working. But I can still write this and save and load it again in
Notpad. Also Explorer is still working.

If I click "Send Error Report" then nothing seem to happen.

Any help is appreciated.

Tanks for any replay

This error report is legit. It is asking you to send the error report to
Microsoft so they can analyze it and look for any program bugs / security
flaws. I personally don't ever send them because the reports contain
personally identifiable information such as: your IP address, machine name,
etc. If you see this error more than at least once a day for the
explorer.exe process, Locate your Windows XP Install CD, go to Start, Run,
type in "sfc /scannow" (no quotes), put your Windows install disk into the
cd drive, let SFC finish what it has to do and reboot. You should no longer
see this error.
