Explorer crashes on 2nd open

Just upgraded a machine from w98 to w2ksp4. whenever explorer is opened and
another occurrence of explorer opened I get a system error ' explorer.exe
has generated errors and will shutdown...' any ideas? should I format and
do a fresh install?

If you care to Clean Install, some of the experts here can and will fix you
up with directions.
I am in the middle writing a comprehensive set of instructions, adn will
gladly post after complete.
