Explorer - CD drives do not update

I keep getting weird things with CD/DVD's. In explorer if I insert a DVD
everything displays as it should. But when I eject that DVD explorer still
shows that information as if the DVD is still there. Sometimes the disk
won't eject at all. That happens randomly with both my internal drives,
sometimes one, sometimes both, sometimes the system locks up. One is a DVD
writer, the primary, the other one is secondary and just a DVD-ROM drive.
Both drives have been flashed with the latest firmware updates and have
worked fine with them for several months. Explorer used to show the drives
by their name i.e. HP DVD400c for drive e, now it only shows the generic "DVD
writer" name. I've had to run chkdsk after the first time it locked up which
was a couple of days after the latest security updates from the update site.
After that I have tried uninstalling the drivers for both optical drives and
even unistalled the secondary ATA controller and rebooting Windows. Still
get same weird actions.

Searched knowledge base and only thing that comes close is one that talks
about this refreshing of drives being fixed in SP2. I've had SP2 installed
practically since it came out. Has something been corrupted? What can I
check? Any ideas appreciated.

Ignore this please. I figured it out. Zip drive's Iomegaware was loading at
startup and causing all of my problems. Sorry about that.
