Explorer can't find links to Microsoft help-pages, so neither can

Guest

My XP2 recovers after a "serious problem" and I click as always to notify
Microsoft about the crash and send information about the crash. So far so
good.

But when I have reported to Microsoft and close the error report sending
window, Internet Explorer opens up with a link to a help-page or what it is.

But I always get a HTTP 404 on this page. Whatever the address is.
This time it was
"http://wer.microsoft.com/responses/....2.0?SGD=0be15cd6-0dc7-4d57-a379-30fd5d695841"

I personally belive it has something to do with the FO (language-code) in
the link.
The reason I think it is like that, is because I have a Danish XP but living
in the Faroe Islands. Some settings are Swedish because it's my mothertongue.
So the OS's getting paranoid and don't know that it could send me to a
DK-site. Or even a Swedish or English site for that matter.
But even if I now try to change the language etc setting, I still get the
HTTP 404 on the screen.

Microsoft can't even find their own links, :)
So anyone know how I can get help to find the Holy Grail

Copy and insert in a new browser doesn't help.
Copy and insert in a second computer, doesn't help.
Changing FO with DK, doesn't help.

Maybe Microsoft is just trying to make me curious ???
"...we have a solution to your problem, but sorry, can't tell you..."

Have you looked at the Warning and Error Reports in the System and
Application logs in Event Viewer?

Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in
the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for the last boot. No
Information Reports or Duplicates please. Indicate which also appear in
a previous boot.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you
should double click for further information. You can copy using copy
and paste. Often the link will, however, say there is no further
information.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a

I'll take this "bluescreen" back to the store and see what they can do.

But do you know why I can't see the Microsoft wer-pages in the browser?
That has nothing to do with the hardware, has it?

3... You may have a bad RAM try to test your RAM by running Memtest by
downloading this tool and unzip it and make a floppy or CD/DVD and run it on
Reboot.

I believe you have both software and Hardware (like RAM, motherboard,
BIOS..etc.)issues here, your winsock is corrupted either by malware or forked
by somehow! , please read the info below then take the appropriate actions:

Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced.
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
= Then try to Disable the Add-Ons on your Browser somehow installed on your
browser, On how to disable the Add-ons follow this:
Click on Programs Tab and then click the Manage Add-Ons Button there Disable
the None/Not Verified Plug-ins/Add-ons ( you need to Renable them one-by-one
later and see which is the culprit or you can send them here in your next
post) and click [OK] to confirm your Changes.

Nass has commented on the web pages problem. If this is a recently
purchased computer under warranty you need to push it back at them in
the knowledge you have not made a problem worse. Is it likely that the
computer will be repaired on site or sent away for repair? If the former
you must have a chance of getting them to sort out the lesser software
problems at their expense. It may depend on how much software you have
installed and whether it has any bearing on the problems?
