I rcently upgraded to IE6.0.2something

Whenever I start Explorer, within 10 seconds I get a message saying the IE was encountered a problem and will shut down. It gives me an option of sending a report or not

I'm never told what the problem is

I have Windows 98 (the first edition). I've already tried the obvious things such as reinstalling IE6, using the repair tool, reinstalling Windows, scandisk, etc. etc

What can the problem be?

I also am on WIN 98 first edition and have IE
6.0.2800.1106IS loaded. It keeps crashing and then myu
system crashes. It usually happens after I have closed my
broadband connection but also happens when no apps are
running.
I get the following report info. Anyone have an
explanation apart from need to upgrade from 98??
thanks

To test with: Disable third-party browser extensions in Internet Explorer
1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Internet Options.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Under Browsing, clear the Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart) check box.
5. Restart Internet Explorer.

I too have been having this problem for about a week.
Seems nobody knows what is going on with it. It must be
some kind of virus but Microsoft isn't owning up to it
yet as how to remedy this problem. Good Luck. ps. I'm
using xp home edition with cable.

I tried disabling the third party software...it works

This makes sense because the problem first started when I used an installation disk by SBC Yahoo DLS (my local phone company). I still don't have service, but at least IE6 doesn't close on me.

You only disabled the parasites. Clean your computer.
