Explorer address adds slashess and extras

My internet explorer has been going slow for a few months now. I had the
cable guy here today and he showed me the problem was when I type in an
address, ie www.scifi.com, it will bring up www.scifi.com/ and other
addresses will add more then a slash. This causes numerous pop ups and
screws everything up.
Why did this start to happen a few months ago and what can fix this. I've
run virus scans and says I don't have any.

Try running cwshredder, go to this site and download and run. It is safe and
should fix your problem.

Viruses detection doesn't catch browser exploits. Get Spybot S&D and
HijackThis, with help from SWI Forums. Start with this article:
