I cannot get IE 8 to go to the wireless internet connection. It shows that
wifi connection is at good connection but IE gives me "page cannot be
displayed". I run diagnostics and it suggests there is a modem problem. I
have taken this in twice to the local computer company and they haven't
fixed anything either time...in fact I think it is worse. Any ideas of what I
can check on my own?

The first thing to determine is if you are actually connected to your
wifi network. Open a Command Prompt (Start > All Programs > Accessories
Command Prompt) and type the following:

ping google.com [press Enter]

the output should be something like this:
Pinging google.com [74.125.45.100] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 74.125.45.100: bytes=32 time=33ms TTL=247
Reply from 74.125.45.100: bytes=32 time=36ms TTL=247
Reply from 74.125.45.100: bytes=32 time=35ms TTL=247
Reply from 74.125.45.100: bytes=32 time=35ms TTL=247

Ping statistics for 74.125.45.100:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 33ms, Maximum = 36ms, Average = 34ms

Does your ping result in no "Lost" packets?

After the "ping" command is complete, type the following:

ipconfig /all [press Enter]

copy and paste the results in your next post (to copy from the Command
Prompt window, right-click, select Edit > Select All, then press Enter).
