Explore freezes when loading from a programme

IE6 XP SP2

IE works ok most of the time when used directly, but when you try to access
it from inside another programme it freezes.

I have run Malware Adaware & virus checker
I'v disabled addons in manage addons & disabled third party browser
extensions.

The issue may with the program and not IE, please state what program is causing
the issue.

It is on a 15 PC network and all the other PC's are ok and identical
The programme is Pegasus Opera, but if you are in other programmes it does
the same i.e. we tried to update the Adaware programme from Lavasoft from
within Adaware and it froze.
This PC used to be OK
One other thing IE7 was downloaded then removed
 
We have re-installed IE7 and it all seems OK

Could the uninstall of IE7 have taken something out of IE6
