I need some help with this Exploit virus. It apparently
came in an email, which I deleted without opening. But
somehow it's in the .pst file and now I'm locked out of
Outlook and Outlook Express. I get the message: "File
access is denied. You do not have the permissions required
to access thie file..."

I run F-Secure anti-virus software. F-Secure calls this
thing Exploit.html.objdata, but it can't access the file
to disinfect because I don't have permissions.

Is there a way to open the .pst and remove the infected
file without losing everying in Outlook? If not, can I
delete the pst file and get rid of it that way?

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
rich

Is the pst-file in the quarantine folder of your virusscanner now? Get it
out of quarantine (see the documentation of your virusscanner for that) and
tell the virusscanner to exclude that file from being scanned (again; see
the documentation of your virusscanner for that). Since a virus can't
directly operate from within a pst-file you are not comprimising anything.
Now you should be able to open Outlook and delete the offending message.
Also clear it from your Deleted Items folder. Rightclick the root of the
folder (probably Outlook Today)-> Properties-> button Advanced-> button
Compact Now. This will truncate the pst-file and you'll get rid of the
message permanently.

To answer your other question; yes, starting with a new pst-file will also
solve it but you'll loose all your mail stored in that pst-file in the
process. To create a new pst-file for your profile go to Control Panel->
Mail
