We have a couple of Non AD w2000 servers. several users map drives to share
points on these servers. Each user is assigned a username and password.
(which is created on the w2000 server) when the client maps to the drive the
user enters the username and password and receives has access to the share
point. When the user's password expires on the w2000 server, I would have
expected the client login to prompt for a prompt the the current password has
expired and allow the user to enter a new password. Instead the user login
fails. It is neccessary for our company to automatically expire all user
accounts created on all w2000 servers. The only way these users gains access
to these share points is through mapped drives to these servers. (they do not
login to these server in any other method).
Do I have something incorrectly configured that the user is not
notified/prompted for a new password when mapping to the share points on the
w2000 servers?
I had a similar question regarding changing passwords of ftp users and
recieved some good information back from the IIS sercurity forum on what is
and is not possible. I hope that this is not to similar of a question. (I
actually thought the mapped drive, password expiration would be a no brainer)
Thanks,
Susan
