expired activation problem

windows xp was not activated in time and now cannot log
in. is there a way to activate from dos or any other
process i can do to activate without re-installing
windows?

Boot to safe mode (press F8 when starting) and activate it there.

The error window when you try to activate doesn't list a telephone
number to call Microsoft?

Else click on the topmost link at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;CNTACTMS and
start from there to get the telephone numbers. You'll now need to make
a telephone call to talk to them about getting an activation code.

What does "nothing worked" mean? Please be specific. Exactly what
happened when you tried to boot to safe mode. If you got an error
message, please quote it verbatim.
