Expert advice needed

ok so i was recording an important lesson from my instructor and the thing
hung when it was creating clips, i could press cancle but it wasnt making the
clips, if i cancled the movie would be gone so i pulled the plug and now i
have the raw 4 gig tmp file and another 608mb temp file in .tmp. i really
need to change it so i can view it. tried renaming extention to wmv and mpeg
and alll that. nothing worked. need expert advice.

Did this happen when importing the video from your HDD into WMM?
If so the TMP files really don't matter, the original source file should
still be intact on your harddrive right where it was.
If this is the case then try importing into WMM again but disable the option
to automatically create clips by removing the check from the box in the
import dialog.
After importing successfully you can delete the TMP files that are wasting
space on your harddrive since WMM isn't using them anyway.
