Expand disabled in Explorer & XP Pro

When I try to do a shortcut with %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe ,/N ,/E, C:\ or any of it's derivatives Explorer does not expand C: ... as a matter of fact, the expand is disabled on the menu. The only way I can get the expand and the + to the left of C: to show up is to open a lower folder and then the + next to C: is there.

This is getting to be a real pain. All I want to do is open a window to explore C: with it expanded ... nothing fancy ... just like the way it used to work since Windows 3.11 LOL

Cactus,
Not exactly an IE question ;-) but...

C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /e,C:
should open C expanded (two panels)

explorer.exe /e,/select,c:
would open C but not expand it.

Additional information at:

Don

Thanks Don but that doesn't help either. It opens the window the correct way
however it will not allow C: to be expanded. I still have to click on s sub
dir before it will let me expand C:. I have already tried the Command line
switches from MS to no avail.

explorer /select,c:\windows\calc.exe

In this example in the article 130510 there is only one space after explorer
all the switches are set one after the other without any space.

Could it be your situation?
