Exiting out of the Media Center

Can anyone help meor is experiencing the same.... When I Exit out of the
media center my laptop (Inspiron 9300) makes a loud sound with popping noises
and shut my laptop down completely.... I can do everything else in it... it
only happens upon exiting the program...

The folks on the MediaCenter newsgroup might be more familiar with this
stuff.
