The information for my photo's, including camera, f-stop, shutter speed, etc
is missing. It ws on my hard drive after copying from my camera. Is there a
setting or something that is wrong?

Maybe you could re-download
the original unedited files from
your memory card?

Some editing software will strip
the EXIF info from image files.

You may find the following freebie

Hello John.
I do not have the pictures on the card anymore. I did open a program called
Microsoft Office Picture Manager and I see all the data is there! I don't
understand why it is not in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer when I right click
and go to advanced. I did find the EXIF data, just in a different program,
not allowing me to see it in the program I usually use (Windows Picture and
Fax Viewer), to sort and write my photo's. Any idea's?

I cannot offer any ideas because I'm
not even sure what the question is.

Image files are not *in* your various
programs...they are saved on your
hard drive in the various folders that
you saved them in.

I'm sorry. I'll try explaining it better. If the data is available in
Microsoft Picture Manager, how do I get the exif data in Windows picture and
Fax Viewer, by right clicking and going to advanced?
Thanks

Ok...thanks. Now I think I understand....

Windows Picture and Fax Viewer only
recognizes certain attributes. There's
no user settings I'm aware of that will
change this.

You will find that the info you can view
varies from one app to another.

Did you try Exifer?

Also you might like IrfanView.

If you mean the plug-ins for IrfanView you
don't need to search...just scroll down the
page and you'll find a link.

Place your mouse pointer over the file name or thumbnail of one your camera
photo.
A textbox will open. It should contain the dimensions of the photo in
pixels. If this info is not present, do the following:
Click on Start and click on Run and type the following in the textbox:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press the Enter key.
Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI...

This should repair the association between XP and your image files and bring
back the capability to read the EXIF info.

I'm sorry Yves. I tried this and it did not give me the dimensions of the
JPG Files. Could it be that the file is JPG and not JPEG?
Marty

The fact that you did not get the dimensions simply indicate that XP lost
the association with image files.
Simply run REGS.... as indicated in my previous message and this will bring
back the association and you should then be able to see dimensions and read
the EXIF file.
JPG and JPEG are the same. If XP list the file type as JPEG, it is a JPG
file.

Hello Yves.
I ran the run.... and it did not give me the information. Sorry, wish it
would have worked. Brian
