HELP Please, I am usning XP. What steps do I need to take to rid my system of s_h_i_t.exe. Icon appears on desk-top and seems to live in start-up dir. TAR!!

Thanks for your help. I shall follow advise and see how I go. Also I did forget to mention I use Trend Micro PC-cillen anti virus. Is there known possibility of conflicts between PC-cillen and your recomendations please!

You do not want to run two AVs at the same time, uninstall one before installing another.

There are quite a few "on-line" AV scanners that you can use, all the major AVs have one.

I haven't used PC-cillen since 95
