Everytime I run a .exe of any kind I get a window that says the file has
stopped working and will be closed by windows.
the most recent games i have tried to install are: Cars and Cruise Tycoon.
Both come up with the same problem. I have tried changing the DEP settings
and the compatibility settings, can anyone help? I want to play my games!!!

i currently am runnin as admin erm..if events log is the same as problem log
then all is shows is the program stopped working and apparently a report has
been sent as no solution was found by windows???

Start/Orb, type event, click on Event Viewer.

error log says: Faulting application Cars.exe, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp
0x446e3753, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x00000000,
exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x8a3b6657, process id 0x1684,
application start time 0x01c7af9576e3c3b0.

?????

Good! The exception code 0xc0000005 (and the rest of the log entry, for
context) is what we need to proceed...

Will do some digging...

As it says below - you might need to double check your hardware, test the
RAM (do you know how to do this ? Google MEMTEST), try and get the latest
drivers for your hardware... I doubt it's malware/adware though...

"The error 0xC0000005 is generated by an illegal "memory access violation".
This can be caused by anything from faulty RAM, an incorrect/corrupt device
driver, poorly written/updated software and more commonly under Windows XP
Service pack 2, malware/adware installations."

ok, me still stuck, tried regcure, error killer from the google page from the
error code, also tried memtest and all latest drivers as far as i know?! but
stil no working games?? any ideas??

I can only suggest you keep looking on google for 0xC0000005 error that may
be arising in a similar context to yours. You could also report this to the
manufacturers of the games.

Have you tried running in XP comatability mode. My son has been running cars
in this mode with no problems.

Thanks,

Eddie Johnson
