I have friend of mine has tried to associate .EXE files
with notepad under Folder options. Now we cannot get any
programs to run. The association is not listed but the
programs will not launch.

Does anyone know how to revert this back or what .EXE
should be associated with?

Thanks

Mark

Can you do a system restore back to a point before this happened.

In addition to Carey's advice, open Windows Explorer (Windows key and E) and locate REGEDIT.EXE in the Windows folder. Right click it and select Rename. Rename it to REGEDIT.COM. The double click the renamed file. Use File, Import to import the REG file for the EXE association fix.

Ah well. I was thinking that since it starts automatically in safe mode, it
might work.

Actually not, since System Restore is an EXE
