I have a new Dell Inspiron 1520 notebook with US Windows XP installed. The
performance is really snappy. I am running Office 2000 on that machine.
However, after I did something (tinker with International support add-in for
Office 2000, I think) suddenly text entry turned out to be excruciatingly
slow (sometimes it nearly keeps up with my typing, but more often characters
show up in bunches after 2-4 seconds (!).
There is no processor load while this is going on. It happens system wide,
that is, anywhere you can enter text.
I subsequently uninstalled the feature from Office 2000 (sorry, forget what
exactly it was called because it's now uninstalled) but the problem did not
go away.
I checked which languages are enabled in Office and this includes a number
of more excotic languages I don't really need, but they are grayed out so I
can't uncheck them.
Before I have to go and re-install the entire system I am wondering whether
anybody might have experienced similar problems?
