Exclusive mode so I can set a password in Acess

I cannot get access to acknowledge that I have checked the exclusive mode.
The box is checked but when I try to encrypt with a password, it tells me
that I have to change it to exclusive
 
Try File, Open, select the file and then click on the dropdown beside the 'Open' button and choose Open Exclusively.
