Exchange Server will not setup or resolve

Have a pc with Office 2000 Pro installed on it. I can not get Outlook to set uo. When I try to add the Exchange Server and then resolve the name I get the following error

The name could not be resolved. The Microsoft Exchange Address Book was unable to log on to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer.......

I can ping the mailserver but can not get Outlook to resolve to it.

Turns out the TCP/IP Protocol was corrupted. I
uninstalled the protocol and then reinstalled. Outlook
now working like a dream.
