Exchange server vs. mailbox

My school uses Outlook in the corporate/workgroup
setting. We install using Microsoft Mail. We use the
mailbox .pst and mailbox .pab. I am having great
difficulty getting Outlook XP to work with the rest of our
system. It keeps asking for the Microsoft Exchange
Server. Is this something that can't be done? I would
appreciate the assistance.

Most of the workstations on our network use Windows 98.

Use Tools | Accounts to remove the Exchange Server service from your profile since you have no Exchange server. Then go to http://www.poremsky.net for instructions on hacking MS Mail to work with OUtlook 2002 (an unsupported configuration).
