Exchange problem

Our Dell/Exchange server died last week. Dell replaced the motherboard.
Now Exchange is not working. Right after the first bootup, I got the
message that the POP3 service could not be started, although I haven't seen
that message on subsequent starts. However, in Exchange System Manager, if
I right click on any of the mailbox usernames, I get the following error:
The server is not operational. Facility: Win32 ID no: 8007203a Exchange
System Manager.

Also, I noticed that the POP3 service is running, but if I stop the service
it will not restart.

Is this related to a new motherboard?

True and many of us will try to help, especially if familiar with Exchange.

This seems like more of a corruption than anything else. Can you post any
Event log errors to help determine specific courses of action, unless you've
already posted to the Exhange groups base on J.H.'s suggestions, which then
those guys can help you out.

Instead of the website you're using, I suggest to use OEx (Outlook Express
or any other newsreader), and configure a news account, pointing to
news.microsoft.com. This is a direct link to the Microsoft Public
Newsgroups. It is FREE and requires NO ISP's Usenet account. OEx allows you
to easily find, track threads, cross-post, sort by date, poster's name,
watched threads or subject.
It's easy:

There is nothing particularly wrong with asking your own specific
questions -- people will try to help almost all of the time even if
you ask something that has been answered every day for the past
month. (And some people do that <grin>)

If the number of messages or finding old messages is giving you
trouble then generally you can use "Google groups" to focus
on the right stuff and find LOTS of "old" answers.

http://groups.google.com

You can search (specific or all) newsgroups pretty much as easily
as you can search the web, using operators like | (OR), "quoted
phrases", subject:, author:, dates, - (term must NOT appear), etc.

There is also an "Advanced Search" where you can do most of this
using a form instead of command syntax.
