Exchange Connection

Hello:

Our users are migrating to Windows XP and Office 2003.
Backend is Exchange 5.5 sp4. When I create a new Outlook
profile to connect to Exchange server, it goes out to the
Internet and back in to connect to the Exchange server
(servername.domain.com). The pings point the local IP.
Tracert to Exchange server traces back to the local IP.
I've added the entry to the host file. I've added static
mapping to the WINS. Nothing works.

Any suggestions?

What IP address is returned when you ping the FQDN of the Exchange server?
Do you have the FQDN added to the Hosts file with the correct IP address?
