I have a numerous amount of processes running in the background. I have
scanned & elimnated virii, spyware, etc and repeated and repeated. I am
fairly certain I have rid my machine of its "cold". Can someone supply me
with a list of processes that Windows REQUIRES to run properly? Also can
someone let me in on how to diable background processes from even booting up?
Any help is appreciated,

Thank you,

Aaron Clemons

Hi Aaron,

Here is a place to start on services, which ones are required depends on
your configuration:
http://www.theeldergeek.com/services_guide.htm

Disabling background processes is most easily done by running the system
configuration utility. This is done by entering msconfig into a start/run
prompt. The bulk of the startup load will be on the appropriate tab, and
anything listed here can be disabled.

As to cleaning your system, if you have not done so I would strongly
recommend that you redo the scans for malware while running in Safe mode.
Only here do you stand a chance of removing the more resistant ones that
often mask themselves from detection and removal in Normal mode.

How to start in Safe mode:
