The Lotus 123 file size was 5.5mb
After converting to Excel 2002 the file size is now
13.5mb. The Excess Format Cleaner 1.0a keeps locking up
in Visual Basic Editor. Then Excel locks up.
Any suggestions?

Hi Kathy,

I can't help you with the format cleaner problem specifically, but if
that won't work for you it's very easy to do the bulk of its work manually.
Most of what it does consists of deleting excess rows and columns on each
worksheet in the workbook; these are rows and columns that Excel thinks are
in use, and is therefore storing information on, but should really be empty.
To do this manually:

* Select cell A1 and then press Ctrl+End. This will bring you to the cell
that Excel *thinks* is the last used cell on the worksheet.

* Delete all of the empty rows and columns between the real end of the
worksheet and the point where Excel thinks it ends. You first have to select
the *entire* row/column, by clicking and dragging in the header area (where
the row and column numbers are) then choosing Edit/Delete from the menu.

* Save the workbook to get Excel to accept the changes.

* Repeat for all worksheets in the workbook.
