exception processing error when printer, other equipment turned on

Get the following message when printer, scanner HD, etc, turned on AFTER
bootup.

exception processing message c00000a3 parameters 75b6bf9c 75b6bf9c. Label is
Drive not ready.

Have reinstalled system and been very careful of all addon utilities for
these peripherifals (sp).

Although that Hotfix only speaks to printers, it solved the problem for other
peripherals too. Thanks much.

I tried this fix but still seem to have the same problem. Ideas?
