Excel's Save as command causes Excel to not respond

Out of the blue, with no apparent cause, whenever I use the "Save as" command
Excel freezes and when I use the Task Manager it shows two applications of
the Excel file that was in use and "not responding"
 
Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.
 
There are no network drives to disconnect
