I have a user using excel xp and when he uses a pivot table excel crashes
periodically. Anyone have any ideas about a patch for this?

Matt

Without knowing any details its hard to diagnose. One
crash I'm aware of which is avoidable is as follows:

When you have a pivot table set up and there is a large
volume of data and/or possible dividers(pages, leftheaders
or top headers), it is possible to move the headers from
top to left and vice versa. When this occurs it changes
gthe dimensions of the pivot table. If the changed
dimensions result in a portion of the pivot table leaping
off the end of the sheet(at right or at bottom) it
crashes. I dont know if there is a patch, but being
careful on changing the pivot table may prevent the error.

If this is not the cause, I'll need much more information
on what was being done at the time and details on the
data, etc...

Periodically, after I have added columns to a range in a pivot table
Excel crashes when I try to update the table (clicking !). The messag
I get is;

The instruction at "0x3052aec7" referenced memory at "0x00000002".
Memory could not be "read"

In this case the data range or the range of the pivot table is no
close to the limits of the sheet.

It would be nice to avoid this crash as the only work-around I have i
to wipe out the pivot table and chart and build it again.

Thanks in advance for your help
