Tommy

I made a worksheet 'password protected' and now when I try
to open the worksheet, excel opens but the worksheet
doesn't open. I don't get a prompt to enter a password.
Can anyone help me? Thanks, Tommy

Note: there are 3 types of Protection which can all be passworded.

1. WorkSheet protection from Tools>Protection
2. WorkBook protection from Tools>Protection
3. File protection from File>Save As>Tools>General Options(XL2002)

And a fourth one if you count Protection on a VBA Project

Which are you referring to?

When you say "worksheet" are you referring to a sheet in a Workbook(file) or
to the actual file itself? WorkBooks(files) are comprised of one or more
Worksheets.

From where are you trying to open? Explorer? Desktop shortcut?

Post back. Might be we can narrow it down.

Gord,
I'm pretty sure it was:
File>SaveAs>SaveOptions> I can't remember if I
checked "Always create backup" or not.
I realize I should have done this with a file that was not
important before I tried to save a file without a backup.
I am still learning. Thank You for your response.

Hi Tommy,

Yes, it is possible to bypass password protection and find/remove the
password and in an MS Excel spreadsheet or file.

There are many good tools available for this purpose:

Some tools are available for free:

N.B. Please do not crack any password unless you are fully authorised
to access the file.

Regards,

C.B.
