I have a WinXP running Office 2000, When I try to open
Excel it pops on the screen like its going to start and
disappears within seconds. I had fixed this problem
before by going to my pc,folder options, deleting the .xls
file then going to regedit and renaming the excel file to
oldexcel. But that is not fixing it now, nor reinstalling
it or opening through safe mode. Any ideas???

You may have a corrupt toolbar file. This is named *.xlb (the name differs
by version). Search for it and either rename it or move it. See if Excel
starts and then you can delete it. You toolbar customisations will be gone
however.

Excel creates a new one when the original cannot be found
