Excel use w/ Vista

I have read and reread through questions here on the site, but can't find an
answer to my question:
With Vista do I have to change the screen resolution every time I try to use
Excel? It seems I have to change it to 1280X960 in order to use it. It's a
pain to have to do this every time, but I will if I have to.

Excel doesn't bother about screen resolution and will not try to change it
or nag you about it. It displays well on any screen. This Vista laptop is
native1280x800 and runs everything from Excel5 to Excel2007 without
problems.

But of course, the more pixels, the more you see. How do you experience that
you need to change the resolution?

The reason I need to change the resolution is because when I open Excel it is
so huge I can't see most of it. Everything is stretched way out. So then I
change the resolution to 1280X960 and I can work with it fine.
I'm on a Dell desktop.
Are you saying maybe I should have my resolution changed to 1280X960 for
every day use? I'm at a loss here.

What "it is so huge", is it the content of a spesific file, or are the menus
more stretched than, say, Word or your email program or the internet
browser?

I won't recommend any resolution. Resolution is a combination of how big
your monitor is, how many pixels it can display, how close they are to
eachother, your eyesight, and what you are comfortable with. But Excel
behaves pretty much as any other program, it should not stand out as "huge",
it is itself very standard.
