I am working with an Excel spreadsheet that uses formulas. The formula
entered in one column is: =N5-O5 and the result is displayed as ######.
Doing a mouse over the ###### displays the correct amount. How do I get the
total to display instead of ######.

Hi Ron
Most likely you need to widen the cells.
What type of information is in those cells?

Yep, that was it and I would not have thought of that. Thanks John

Hi,

Suppose the formula is in column A, place your mouse between the column
letters A and B, on the vertical line, and when you see a two headed arrow
double-click.

Thanks for the response. I did not create the spreadsheet and therefore it
did not dawn on me that the column required more room to display properly.

I can't click the Yes button as I do not use the web interface.

Ron, you have restored confidence in myself and in humankind generally.

Of course, we understand that your forté is Windows rather than Excel, but
if an MVP of your breadth and depth of experience and knowledge, and years
of helping others in these NGs can miss a point like that, then there is
hope for the rest of we sweating, heaving masses of struggling humanity - we
who stagger from one crisis to another.
