I am having problems sorting data and keeping my descriptive rows a
home. I have three rows (row1, row2 and row3) that descibe wha
information is below them. When I try to sort the data below, m
descriptive rows drop below my data, row 4 becomes row 1. Do I need t
set up a list, table, what. I'm pretty new to Excel 2003 and alot o
this is at the end of my reach

Select Row 4 then SHIFT + END + DownArrow which selects to the bottom of your
data.

Data>Sort. Select a sort column and do it.

Rows 1,2,3 will not be included.

To add to Gord's reply,
in your case, make sure that under "MyList",
the box "NoHeaderRow" *is checked*.

AND,
Always, always, always, always ... select the cells to be sorted *before*
you click <Data> <Sort>.
Never, never, never, never ... allow XL to select the range for you - and
*don't* use the sort icons on the tool bar.

That's the only way you'll be sure your sort includes the entire range that
you intend.

Gord,

It did it.

Droped rows 1,2 & 3 to the bottom of the page.

It was interesting however to do it that way.

Would you like the file sent to you to check it out?

Thanks for your efforts.

Gord,

I did expand the selection as there is data that needs to sort alon
with this coloum, if that makes a difference.

I think my pop up blocker got that instant message! I accepted it an
then my blocker went off. I would let either of you look at this if yo
like.

Thanks,

If you select the Rows using the Row headers starting at Row 4 you should not
get the meesage asking to "Expand the selection".

Do not select just one column.

If you're still having problems, send the workbook to me if you wish.

Change the obvious in my email address.

Gord,

I am more than happy to send this off to you. Could you send me an
mail and I will reply with what I'm trying to get done here. Maybe
have things set up different from what they should be as this is clos
to what I had set up in Works.

Thanks,

Ric
