Hello

Would there, by chance, be available a script one could download and use to separate out text when importing it into a spreadsheet

My question is I have a text file and when I try to import it into the Excel spreadsheet (following the wizard's instructions), it does not separate everything out exactly as I want. Would anyone know of a program available that allows you to open an existing text file and specify how you want it separated out

Your help is greatly appreciated

Thank you!

If the Text Wizard can't do the job your data must be parsed out by some other
method.

There are many ways to do this, all dependant upon your data.

Post some examples of the text so others can help.

Hello Gord

Below is some example data as it is layed out at this time

12345678901234 5678901234567890123456789012BEATLE B BAILEY 1234 ERIE INDIANA
WALLA WALLA WA123450000 1234567890123

This is the format of ALL data in the text file. Below is how the data is to be broken up

CYC-DATE position 1-
CERT-NUM position 6-1
ICN position 19-3
GROUP position 34-4
GROUP-BU position 43-4
MEM-NAME position 47-7
ADDRESS-PART1 position 73-10
ADDRESS-PART2 position 103-12
CITY position 129-15
STATE position 152-15
ZIP position 154-16

Does this help? Let me know if you have more questions

Thank you

Ron
