Excel Object somehow converted to Table

I'm looking at a presentation that has a table in it, that I know was once an
Excel object. How would an excel object be converted to a table?

As far as I know (which might not be all there is to know) it is not
possible, unless someone retyped the whole thing as a table (or first
opened the table in Excel, copied and pasted it to Word as HTML and then
back to PPT).
